Co-Curricular

The 1967 edition of the Athens High School Trojan described the purposes and goals of several clubs and organizations that extend education beyond the classroom:


The various clubs at Athens High School work for the school as well as the community. The F.T.A. collects for the Heart Fund every year along with a donation for the awards for Awards Day, Apple Day, and a tea for the teachers. F.H.A. sponsors a Basketball Banquet for the ball players each year. The German Club's main purpose is to further the knowledge and undertsanding of German. The Spanish Club's main activity is the sending of $25 to the Spanish American Care. The National Honor Society plans money making projects in order to leave money for the use of next year is Honor Society. The Student Council represents the entire student body. They collect gifts to be sent to the Westin State Mental Hospital. The Science Club participates in the County Science Fair. The Interact Club collected for the Joey Oxley Fund. They also provide opportunities for young man to work together and a fellowship dedicated to service and international understanding. The Masque and Gavel promotes student appreciation and participation in speech and drama. The clubs of A.H.S. are active and do contribute to a major portion of the schools extra curricular activities.
