First Dormitory for Men

Charles Baxter, David Baxter

With the opening of the new residence hall for women (McComas Hall) on the new campus in 1922, the former women’s dormitory, which had been built in 1891 and renovated in 1919, became the first dormitory for men from 1922 until 1926. This building then became Athens High School from 1926 until 1941, during which time it was known to high school students as the “Old Red Barn."
