Frankie's La Salute Club

Linda Hill Mann, Henry Friedl

Frankie’s La Salute Club, Inc. was located on Route 52, Bluewell.  Although it was opened in 1947 it wasn’t incorporated until April 6, 1967, and voluntarily dissolved on September 20, 2002.

Frank Ferrante (1915-2002) was the son of Vito and Portia Ferrante, immigrants from Italy.

“He worked for the American Coal Company at Crane Creek until he joined the Army in 1943. In 1947, he opened Frankie’s La Salute Club and operated that successful restaurant until his retirement in 1995. The La Salute was a favorite gathering place for business meetings, family dinners, receptions, reunions and a host of other functions. As important as the fine Italian cuisine, was the experience of Ferrante’s warm, friendly personality. He was happiest serving his customers and knew just about everyone’s name who dined at the La Salute.” (Findagrave.com #22972637)

‘Frankie’s lasagna, made by his sister Mary, was a mouth watering masterpiece known by locals and coal barons near and far.” (Bluefield Daily Telegraph, July 14, 2019)
