Halloween Queen

Story In Construction by Linda.

...

Another resident who grew up in Athens, Phyllis Mays Keatley, recalls being crowned the Halloween Queen when she was thirteen, but she said not to tell anybody.  They had set up a stage on the back of a flatbed truck. She did feel like a Queen standing on the bed of that truck. She recalls that she got to ride in Kyle Abshire’s pink Thunderbird when she was crowned.  In addition to being the Halloween Queen, Phyllis said they formed a big circle in the middle of the street for the cake walk and she won one year.  Phyllis remembered that Mary Joe’s (Fudge's) costumes were always great. Mary Joe won the costume contest one or more years with the wonderful costumes her family made.
